CHARACTER INFO
Name: Marquise Spinneret Mindfang
Gender: Female
Source: Homestuck
Canon point: After escaping her trial and receiving her robotic arm from Darkleer
Age: Not precisely stated, however, due to her blood color Mindfang supposedly has a lifespan of several hundred human years, so let's just go with "Adult"
Colour: #005682
Chumhandle: ceruleanPicaroon

History: a handy link to the wiki, which summarizes the events rather well

Personality: In short: She's a pirate.

Mindfang takes what she wants and has no qualms whatsoever to do so. Since she used to be the leader of her fleet of pirates called Gamblignants, looting, gambling and accumulating treasure was her life before entering the game. Her unscrupulous tendencies are also not bound to only objects, she forced a slave to please her with her mindcontrol powers all the while her kismesis (a hate-lover, so to say) was watching and seething with jealousy.

Writing down all her various adventures, whether they are of the romantic kind or otherwise, in eloquently worded journal logs is also one of her pastimes. In these journals, she comes off as a very proud woman and boisterous, flirtatious and rather full of herself. This particular characteristic almost lead to her downfall by the hands of Redglare, whom she saw as a mere joke before being captured by her (and losing an eye and an arm to her as well)and only escaping by using her mind control powers.

As stated above, Mindfang had a kismesis called Orphaner Dualscar whom she liked to mock and make jealous with her various redrom games. This habit also shows that Mindfang has no respect for her culture's social order, (the hemospectrum, on which she is lower than Dualscar)something she outright says in her journal as well.

Despite all of this, Mindfang is not completely unfeeling, she expresses genuine dismay and disappointment after her break-up with Dualscar, even more so, when he has aforementioned slave assassinated and Mindfang writes that "her heart was broken twice".

This is what I have gathered of Mindfang's personality from her few canon journals, of which there are not as many as I wish there were. So here follow some character traits I deem plausible for her and along which I would RP her (and which glean from canon, I'm not making her up from thin air)

Mindfang likes company, revels in it even. Every new person she meets is something to her, be it an ally, a titillating rival or red fling, someone to gamble with or tell about her many adventures...or someone to rob and then ditch in an alley. Pretty much the only type of person she can't stand being around are cowards and push-overs, and if she deems someone not worthy of her time, she will be blunt and tell them so (something that has earned her resentment from others more than once)
A consequence of her outgoing personality is her ability to hold her drink, whenever her fleet lay in port, she would visit the next tavern and engage in gambling, drinking contests and pulling wrists.

And at last, despite being around her rather simple-minded pirate crew, Mindfang knows how to plot and plan things beforehand, she has to, after all she used to be the captain and leader of the Gamblignants.

Abilities & physical limitations:
Most notable are her mind control powers, with which she can will people into doing whatever she demands. However, these powers only fully work on other trolls, humans or other races, she can only put to sleep or get a empathic impression of their emotional state.

Dicekind is Mindfang's strife specibus, and the Fluorite Octet her weapon of choice. Rolling these eight magical dice triggers an attack, the higher the number, the more powerful the attack.

Mindfang lost an arm and an eye when Redglare captured her. After escaping her trial she acquired a new, robotic arm though, which was expertly crafted by Darkleer and poses no detriments to her real arm.

Appearance: the lady in cerulean on the left
Notable AU differences from canon, if applicable: none
Strife Specibus: Dicekind
Prototyping: a piece of paper with the Troll pirate code of conduct on it! Which goes as following:

I. Every Troll Shall obey civil Command; the Captain shall have one full Share and a half of all Prizes; the Master, Carpenter, Boatswain and Gunner shall have one Share and quarter.
II. If any Troll shall offer to run away, or keep any Secret from the Company, they shall be marooned with one Bottle of Powder, one Bottle of Water, one small Arm, and Shot.
III. If any Troll shall steal any Thing in the Company to the Value of a Piece of Eight, they shall be marooned or shot.
IV. If any time we shall meet another Marooner that Troll shall sign his Articles without the Consent of our Company, shall suffer such Punishment as the Captain and Company shall think fit.
V. That Troll that shall strike another whilst these Articles are in force, shall receive Troll Moses’s Law (that is, 40 Stripes lacking one) on the bare Back.
VI. That Troll that shall snap his Arms, or smoke Tobacco in the Hold, without a Cap to his Pipe, or carry a Candle lighted without a Lanthorn, shall suffer the same Punishment as in the former Article.
VII. That Troll shall not keep his Arms clean, fit for an Engagement, or neglect his Business, shall be cut off from their Share, and suffer such other Punishment as the Captain and the Company shall think fit.

Title: Mistress of Seas
In-game abilities: I haven't decided yet, most likely controlling, well, the seas or other water sources
Planet: Land of Sailing Ships and Drought.
Hundreds of old sailing ships are strewn across the landscape of LoSSaD, no water has touched these slowly crumbling hulls in hundreds of years because Charybdis, the land's denizen, has swallowed up all the oceans and is unwilling to spew them out again, which turned the whole planet into a sandy desert. The inhabitants of this land are dog sized jumping spiders, they used to be a proud, seafaring folk of fishers but Charybdis doomed them to a life as nomads who barely manage to survive on the resources the desert has to offer.

RP Sample:

Mindfang fidgets and shifts against the hard block wall, trying to make her sitting position more comfortable for herself. Her boots dragging against the dirty floor sound immoderately loud as she pulls up her knees to get the numb out of them from leaving her legs in the same position for too long.
Every tiny sound in her cell sounds much too loud, from the water dripping from the ceiling in one corner to her own breathing, even the dull, pulsing pain in the stump of her arm seems audible in the silence. At fault for the quiet would be His Honorable Tyranny himself, known for making quick work of his trials, there are no other captive criminals down here in the dungeons whimpering for mercy as they await their demise.

Mindfang wonders if Redglare will come down here in person to fetch her, as his Tyranny's next meal. If she will look at Mindfang from behind her impenetrable red glasses like at a trophy, a prey animal. Mindfang would, but Redglare is not Mindfang, is nothing like her.

She finds herself surprised that she is not bitter about the fact that, in a single night, this mere Neophyte had destroyed her entire fleet. She had not expected much from her, still wet behind the ears as she was, but then having her expectations exceeded like that had provided Mindfang with a renewed thrill. Having luck on your side most of the time makes you elated for someone who is able to outsmart you despite of it, Mindfang supposes.

What an exquisite dance in the caliginous quadrant they could have had, were it not for Redglare's commitment to only justice itself.

The rattling of much too many keys on a single ring against the door of her cell startles Mindfang from her reverie. Redglare had not come herself after all, sending two brute looking minions instead, but Mindfang would see her soon enough at the trial.

Mindfang had underestimated Redglare,
now it was time for Redglare to underestimate Mindfang.
